Role of Mindset in Personal Growth

by | Sep 27, 2022 | Blog, Interpersonal Skills, Personal Growth

There are two different types of mindsets that everyone possesses – a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Growth mindset is when one believes that intelligence and success can be achieved through someone’s own personal effort. Having a growth mindset helps one to establish success, also, people engaged in personal growth are often more productive, less stressed and more likely to produce better results.

While personal growth and professional growth may seem like two separate concepts, they’re more intertwined than you may think. If an individual is to have a growth mindset, then they use all of their challenges, failures, and difficulties in setting forth a way to become more educated and strive through all of those obstacles that they might face.

How To Implement a Personal Growth Mindset?

If you’re looking to include a personal growth plan, consider the following suggestions –

  • Put it in Writing: Create a written plan to hold yourself accountable. Take the same discipline you apply to other areas in your life — like never missing a daily workout — and apply that dedication to your personal growth.
  • Find a Time Commitment that Works for You: Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals. Maybe reading one book per month isn’t realistic for you. What about 10 minutes a day? Or two audiobooks per month? Set yourself up for success by committing to an obtainable goal.
  • Collaborate to Create Accountability:Hopefully, you won’t go through this journey alone, and you can find others in your company to forge a bond with and help hold each other accountable.
  • Stay Curious:Curiosity goes hand in hand with a personal growth mindset. When you stay curious, you don’t fall into a fixed mindset. Make why and how frequent parts of your vocabulary, and commit to an “always be learning” mindset — even if you’ve reached the pinnacle of your career.

XYZ has always been a dreamer with big ideas and ridiculous plans, but was unable to make those plans a reality because the story she told herself was “I wasn’t enough”. As long as she continued to tell herself that story, she would continue to be not enough. Until one day she realised the need to change her story – her mindset and take charge of her own life. XYZ worked in Human Resources but felt that her creative side is not being fulfilled. One day she decided to take a leap of faith and pursuea hobby of several years, as a full-time job. Soon she realised it was the best decision for her as it brings out the creative and entrepreneurial side of her that had previously been unfulfilled.

Implementing a personal growth mindsetis a process and a commitment.
